This class is for advanced dancers looking to deepen their knowledge and skills in belly dance. Students will be learning detailed theory on dance, culture, musicality, as well as challenging technical movements and combinations. This term, we will be learning a large choreography to pay homage to the Awalim - a now long gone profession of dancers, musicians, and poets, who helped pave the way for the dance we now call 'Belly Dance'. Students will be learning about balancing props and finger cymbals along side this choreography number.
Students registered in the Winter Session will have the opportunity to perform their class choreography in our annual student recital 'Shimmy Showcase' on Saturday, March 14th 2026. Performing is optional and never mandatory.
